Citywide cleanup slated for Saturday

TERRE HAUTE — The City of Terre Haute will have a citywide cleanup Saturday. Keep Terre Haute Beautiful, in conjunction with the City of Terre Haute and Republic Services, organizes citywide cleanups on the first Saturday in May and October each year.

Volunteers will meet in the parking lot of Booker T. Washington Community Center, 1101 S. 13th St., at 8 a.m. Volunteers will be given a route map, gloves, bags, a free T-shirt and snacks. The cleanup will run from 8 a.m. to noon, and will include several targeted areas in the city. Businesses, churches, schools and other organizations are encouraged to bring a group of people to help.

Once again, several open-top dumpsters will be placed in those targeted areas throughout the city. Hazardous waste, including but not limited to refrigeration units, chemicals, tires and batteries, will not be taken.

Residents are encouraged to clean up around their properties, as well.

For more information or to volunteer for the citywide cleanup, call the mayor’s office at 812-244-2303 or send an email to kthb@treesinc.org.
