Kesler announces bid for Vigo Div. 2 judge

TERRE HAUTE — John A. Kesler II declared his candidacy Thursday for judge of Vigo Superior Court Division 2. His name will be on the ballot for the May 6 primary.

Division 2 is a court of general jurisdiction, which can be assigned any type of case filed in Vigo County, including criminal, civil, family law and probate. Kesler seeks to replace Phillip I. Adler, who is retiring from the bench after 18 years.

Kesler, in a press release, said he has practiced law in Terre Haute for more than 34 years, handling criminal, civil, family law, mental health and probate cases, while representing clients in state and federal court.

Kesler attended law school at Ohio Northern University, and got his undergraduate degree in business administration Butler University.

Kesler is a member and past president of the Terre Haute Bar Association.

He was selected by the chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana to serve on the board of directors for the Indiana Federal Community Defenders Program.
