Man charged with murder requests change of venue

TERRE HAUTE — A Greene County man charged, along with his best friend, in the murder of a Linton teen has requested a change of venue for his trial.

The attorney for Jordan Buskirk, 26, of Jasonville, filed a motion for change of venue on Monday in Greene Circuit Court. A ruling on that request has not yet been issued by Judge Dena Martin.

Buskirk and 25-year-old Randal Crosley have both been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit rape and criminal confinement in the death of 19-year-old Katelyn Wolfe, who went missing from her Linton home on June 5. Her body was recovered days later from an area lake. Linton police arrested Buskirk and Crosley after an investigation revealed the two men were in contact with Wolfe on the night she disappeared.

Last week, the attorney for Crosley filed a motion for a change of venue in the trial. An agreement reached between defense attorney Alan Baughman and Prosecutor Jarrod Holtsclaw, and approved by Judge Martin, will see the jury selected from a county other than Greene, with the trial to be conducted in Greene County.

A pretrial conference in both cases is set for Aug. 5.

No trial date has been set.
