Election filings finalized, candidates named

TERRE HAUTE — Friday was the final day for candidates to file to compete in the May 6 primary election.

There are only a handful of contested races on the Republican and Democratic ballots.

The parties have until noon on June 30 to fill any vacancies on the general election ballot resulting from vacancies on their primary ballots. The same deadline applies for independent or minor party candidates to file for petition of nomination for certification of petition signatures.
