One man was arrested Thursday in a burglary in Vermillion County, police said.
Vermillion County Sheriff deputies arrested Shannon Lee Van Hoosier, 24, for C-Felony Burglary after he admitted to breaking into a house at 194 E. Vernon Street in Perrysville.
Around 9:30 a.m. Vermillion County deputies responded to a burglary call at the residence and they were told by the home owner that Van Hoosier had called him earlier and wanted to borrow money, authorities said. The home owner loaned Van Hoosier $4 and he left, police said.
Afterward, the homeowner left the residence, went to a local restaurant for breakfast and returned home to find his front door busted in. The home owner had video surveillance and it was determined that Van Hoosier had came back to the residence and broke in, according to the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies later located Van Hoosier at his house and he was taken to the Perrysville Town Marshall's office and interviewed. During the interview, Van Hoosier “admitted to breaking into the house and was going to steal items,” police said.
Van Hoosier was released after posting 10% of a $15,000 bond, authorities said.
