Suspect in Bogey’s burglary in court

TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute man whom police suspect of burglarizing a local business and crashing a minivan into a telephone pole early Saturday morning appeared in Vigo Superior Court 3 on Tuesday morning.

Kyle Layman, 27, is to return to court Thursday for the filing of formal charges.

Judge David Bolk found probable cause for Layman’s arrest on Monday while the defendant remained hospitalized in Indianapolis. Layman was released from the hospital Monday afternoon, and appeared in court Tuesday to hear criminal charges and learn that his bond was set at $60,000 cash only.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Jacob Miller stated in court Monday that it is likely class-B felony charges will be filed against Layman, who has numerous prior convictions.

Layman faces charges of burglary, fleeing police and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, all related to the burglarizing of Bogey’s Family Fun Center early Saturday morning, police said.
