TERRE HAUTE — A jailhouse fight has led to a possible 16-year prison sentence for a Terre Haute man who pleaded guilty to aggravated assault.

Ricky Lee Cantrell, 24, appeared Monday in Vigo Superior Court 3 where Judge David R. Bolk accepted the plea agreement and set an April 29 sentencing date.

The incident occurred Aug. 18, 2012, when Cantrell allegedly battered another inmate in the Vigo County Jail, resulting in a fractured jaw for the other inmate. The incident was recorded on surveillance video. Cantrell was charged with a class-B felony.

Cantrell was already serving a six-year sentence in the Department of Correction after pleading guilty to a January 2010 drunk driving accident in Riley that claimed the life of another man.
