CLINTON — A long-time employee of a Vermillion County bank faces a theft charge after allegedly taking more than $87,000 from bank customers.

Lori A. Jacobs, 43, has been charged with class-D felony theft in Vermillion Circuit Court.

Jacobs was employed at an Old National Bank branch in Clinton when the alleged thefts from multiple customers occurred. She had worked at the bank for 25 years.

Investigator Charles Bollinger of the Vermillion County Prosecutor’s Office filed an affidavit for probable cause stating that Jacobs admitted to police that she took $2,500 from a customer by issuing false certificates of deposit on multiple occasions and keeping the money deposited by the alleged victim. Bollinger reported that the bank has investigated and found numerous other victims.

A trial date for Jacobs has been set for September.
