LINTON — A Linton woman was killed and three children were injured in a Monday-morning auto accident in western Greene County.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department reported that Amanda D. Stalcup, 29, of Linton died after the car she was driving struck a tree head-on. The three injured children were taken to Greene County General Hospital for immediate treatment.

The 8-year-old child, a girl, was later taken by Air Evac helicopter ambulance to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. The 12-year-old, a boy, was later taken by vehicle to Riley, the Greene County Sheriff’s Department reported.

According to police, Stalcup was driving east on County Road 200 South west of Lyons, when “for unknown reasons” her vehicle drove off of the south side of the road, through a ditch and struck a tree. Stalcup was killed upon impact, according to the sheriff’s department.

The accident, which took place before 8 a.m., remains under investigation.

Indiana State Police, the Switz City Fire Department, the Lyons Fire Department, Greene County Rescue and the Greene County Ambulance Service also responded to the incident.
