The identities of two people found dead in a Brazil home on Christmas Eve have been confirmed by a local authority.
Brazil Mayor Brian Wyndham told the Tribune-Star that Sharon Rose Payne, 59, and Mike Kirton, 46, appear to have died in a murder-suicide incident at a home on South Leavitt Street.
Brazil Police are investigating the deaths, which were reported at noon Tuesday when a person called 911 to report finding the bodies.
Police Chief Clint McQueen told the Tribune-Star on Friday that he will not release the names or causes of death due to the ongoing investigation.
“We are still speaking to more individuals about things related to the case. We are still trying to put together what happened,” he said.
It will take several days to put the investigation together, he stated, estimating that some information might be released next week.
“I don’t believe the community should be concerned about safety,” McQueen said when asked if the public is at risk from a suspect in the deaths.
The Indiana State Police crime scene unit assisted by processing the scene.
Autopsies were conducted Thursday, McQueen said, but the causes of death are not being released.
