Barbecue to be cooking Saturday for Allen Chapel

TERRE HAUTE — Historic Allen Chapel’s annual barbecue dinner fundraiser is Saturday at the chapel, Third and Crawford streets.

Serving will be noon to 6 p.m. with a full-line of dinner, sandwiches, sides and desserts available.

 Chef Stephen Miller, formerly owner of the Black Skillet and now a caterer in Cincinnati, will prepare the barbecue.

Dinner offerings include rib, chicken and fish, and sandwiches of chicken, pulled pork and fish.

 Prices for dinners, which include choice of two sides, range from $6 to $10, and sandwiches from $5 to $7. Whole and one-half rib slabs and whole and one-half fried chicken will also be available.

Desserts are extra and include sweet potato and chess pie and baked goods.  Pies can be purchased whole or by the slice.

Orders can be placed ahead of time, beginning at 11 a.m., by calling 812-234-5780.

The chapel is accessible to all, and proceeds from the dinner will be used by the congregation for everyday maintenance.
