Tribune-Star brings on new controller

TERRE HAUTE — A new controller has joined The Tribune-Star.

Jerry Bingle was introduced Thursday as the overseer of financial and accounting activities at the newspaper. As such, he will handle billing, payroll and all corporate and regulatory accounting.

With 30 years of accounting experience, Bingle will be moving to Terre Haute from Plymouth, Ind., where he has spent the past 10 years at the Pilot News. Before that, he was chief financial officer for Da-Lite Screen Co., a manufacturing company in Warsaw.

“I’m thrilled to be here,” Bingle said Friday as he spent the day going through the payroll process for the newspaper. “Not only to be part of the newspaper, but to be part of the Terre Haute community.”

A native of Rochester, Ind., Bingle said he and his wife, Delilah, will be moving to Terre Haute in a couple of weeks. They have two daughters, Lora, 24, and Brittany, 22. Active in his community, for 12 years Bingle was assistant softball coach at Plymouth High School. He also enjoys golfing.

By joining the Tribune-Star team, Bingle returns to work for Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., which owned the Pilot News before its sale to Horizon Publications.

Tribune-Star publisher B.J. Riley said he is glad to have someone of Bingle’s experience on staff.

“His financial background as well as his newspaper background are going to be a great asset to the Tribune-Star,” Riley said.
