Floragraph to honor local organ donor on display

TERRE HAUTE — A memorial floragraph portrait honoring 11-year-old organ donor Noah Worthington will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Sunday.

The public is welcome to view the floragraph from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church, 1845 N. 61⁄2 St., in Terre Haute.

Noah died in a car accident in May 2011. When he was declared brain dead in an Indianapolis hospital, his parents, Wil and Rhena Worthington, made the decision to donate their son’s organs, which went to three children and one adult.

The heart recipient, whose name is Greer, will be at the church Sunday to see the floragraph.

On Jan. 1, the floragraph will be part of the Donate Life float during the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, Calif.

The Indiana Organ Procurement Organization submits one donor to be honored on the float, and in 2014, it will be Noah. His image will be featured on a memorial floragraph portrait made of organic materials.

The floragraph will arrive in Terre Haute nearly completed; Noah’s friends and family will be able to finish the floragraph before it returns to Pasadena.

The public also will be able to view the floragraph in Marshall, Ill. on Thursday at Union Hospital’s Cork Medical Center, 408 N. Second St.

The public will be able to view it from 5 to 7 p.m. CST, 6 to 8 p.m. EST.
