Weekend DUI sweep nets more than 300 arrests

Indiana State Police on Friday and Saturday conducted a statewide enforcement campaign targeting impaired and dangerous drivers. Troopers throughout the state arrested 346 impaired drivers, issued 4,105 traffic tickets, 6,646 written warnings, and made 360 arrests for various criminal offenses.

Locally, troopers from the Putnamville Post issued 305 traffic citations and 631 warnings over the weekend. They made 35 impaired driving arrests, removed 23 suspended drivers from the roadways, and made 47 criminal arrests.

The Putnamville District covers Parke, Vermillion, Vigo, Clay, Putnam and Sullivan counties.

Motorists are reminded to dial 911 to report suspected impaired drivers.
