Triple-murder investigation hits town

Police search for evidence from Illinois murder in Dumpster

TERRE HAUTE — A man accused of murdering three people in Illinois might have passed through Terre Haute en route to Florida this week.

Sgt. Joe Watts of the Indiana State Police confirmed Thursday that investigators with the Darien Police Department asked for assistance in searching the Dumpsters located behind the IHOP on South Third Street near Interstate 70 about 8 o’clock that morning.

The request came in connection with a triple homicide which reportedly occurred early Tuesday morning in Darien, a suburb just west of Chicago. Jeff Kramer, 50, his wife, Lori, 46, and their son, Michael, 20, were reportedly shot to death inside their home.

According to wire reports, Jacob Nodarse, 23, was arrested in connection with crime outside Fort Myers, Fla. while sleeping in a minivan outside his parents’ home there.

Members of the Darien Police Department referred all questions to the state attorney’s office. Paul Darrah, of the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office, declined any comment on the arrest citing its involvement in the ongoing investigation.

Watts said the ISP dispatched crime scene technicians and K9 units to the restaurant and “found several items that we believe are related to the triple homicide in [one] Dumpster.”

In addition, surveillance camera video recovered from the restaurant was also turned over as it is believed to be connected, Watts added.

The evidence was packaged and transported to the post for delivery to the Darien Police Department. The investigation is ongoing.
