Terre Haute Stop War on Iraq, a local peace organization, will be one of hundreds of peace groups participating in Million Doors for Peace, a non-partisan effort to reach people in person to oppose the war in Iraq and to sign a petition that will be delivered to Congress.
The event will begin with a one-hour demonstration against the war and, afterward, materials will be distributed to walk door to door. The demonstration will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday in front of the Vigo County Courthouse.
The day after the demonstration and petition drive, there will be a candlelight vigil at 6 p.m. at the courthouse. The vigil will be a solidarity action with peace activists in Iran who will be marking International Day of Peace, a day declared by the United Nations.
The public is invited to attend one or both the activities.
