The Tribune-Star
DUGGER —
Officials are investigating the drowning of a Dugger man Friday evening.
Chad Talley, 33, disappeared under the water while swimming in the Narrow Lake on Greene Sullivan State Forrest shortly after 7:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Indiana Conservation Officer Max Winchell.
He was last seen about 300 feet from the shore while attempting to swim across the lake.
Within seven minutes of friends calling the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana Conservation Officer Greg Swanson responded to the scene. Swanson was able to locate Talley in about 19 feet of water with zero visibility after about three minutes of diving, the news release stated.
Talley was taken to Sullivan County Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy and toxicology screen were scheduled for Saturday at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
