Western Indiana Community Action participants whose checks have been lost or destroyed because of the flooding can visit their local WIC Clinic to replace the checks.
Those who are not currently on WIC but would like to apply can visit their local WIC clinic. Indiana WIC is for pregnant women; breastfeeding women (up to baby’s first birthday; non-breastfeeding postpartum women (up to 6 months); infants (up to their first birthday; and children (up to their fifth birthday).
Applicants must be “at nutritional risk,” with the specific criteria and parameters that indicate risk determined by a health and dietary assessment performed by a health professional at the time of certification. Applicants also must be income-eligible. Families receiving Medicaid, food stamps and TANF are income-eligible for the Indiana WIC Program. Those who are not a member of these other programs can check the income chart to see their family qualifies.
Vigo County Western Indiana Community Action is at 705 S. Fifth St., Terre Haute, 47808, (812) 232-6306; Sullivan County (812) 268-6439.
