More than 42 percent cast ballots in primary

Election board certifies May 6 results

TERRE HAUTE Final numbers, certified Monday by the Vigo County Election Board, did not change any outcomes in the May 6 primary election.

Final results, however, did push voter turnout to just over 42 percent (42.37) of the 76,501 registered voters in Vigo County. Of the 32,412 voters who cast a ballot, 28,404 selected a Democrat ballot and 4,008 selected a Republican ballot.

Results for mail and absentee ballots will be certified today. Those numbers as of Monday show 8,196 ballots were cast in four absentee ballot sites before the election, by mail and before bipartisan traveling voting boards.

Of that, 1,191 absentee ballots were cast by mail and 200 before a traveling board.

The remainder were cast at The Meadows (3,067); Plaza North Shopping Center (1,919); Southland Shopping Center (1,452); and at Indiana State University (367).

Final certified results on the Democrat ballot are:

• President, Hillary Clinton 16,507 votes; Barack Obama 11,340.

• Governor, Jim Schellinger 14,387 votes; Jill Long Thompson 11,133.

• U.S. Representative Brad Ellsworth 23,354

• District 42 State Representative F. Dale Grubb 1,897

• District 43 State Representative Clyde Kersey 11,868

• District 44 State Representative Nancy A. Michael 338; Richard Thompson 212.

• District 45 State Representative Rick Marshall 1,518.

• District 46 State Representative Vern Tincher 5,931.

• Judge of Superior Court Division 2 Phillip I. Adler 20,337.

• Judge of Superior Court Division 5 Barbara L. Brugnaux 11,214; Michael R. Rader 14,378.

• Clerk of Circuit Court Margaret Lockard 8,355; Patricia R. Mansard 16,852.

• County Auditor Timothy M. Seprodi 20,259.

• County Recorder Nancy S. Allsup 7,977; Cheryl A. Loudermilk 6,790; C. Dwayne Malone, 1,828; Brandon S. Niece 1,298; Susan Emily Pfleging 2,855; Raymond L. Watts, 4,381.
