A Sullivan County man was jailed over the weekend after allegedly taking police on a chase in rural Greene County.
Michael Cain Bohnert, 26, of Carlisle was arrested Sunday on allegations of resisting law enforcement, a class-D felony, and reckless driving, a class-B misdemeanor.
Bohnert posted 10 percent of a $4,500 bail to be released from the Greene County jail.
According to a media statement released by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, a 2006 Ford Mustang was seen traveling at a high rate of speed east of Switz City on Indiana 54 around midnight Saturday. Deputies tried to stop the vehicle, but it continued east and then turned south on Indiana 57, where officers lost contact with the car.
A short time later, officers allegedly saw the vehicle again heading north on Indiana 57. The vehicle continued north “disregarding two other patrol vehicles, with red lights and sirens,” the media statement said. These patrol vehicles chased the vehicle back to the Indiana 54/57 junction, where the driver surrendered without incident.
Other law enforcement agencies that assisted the Sheriff’s Department in the case included Indiana State Police, Linton Police Department, Worthington Police Department and Lyons and Bloomfield police departments.
