A two-car accident Sunday afternoon left one woman hospitalized in critical condition and caused non-life-threatening injuries to two other people.
Alexis A. Moore, 19, of Terre Haute was driving northbound on Indiana 63, just south of Lombardi Drive around 4 p.m. when, for an unknown reason, her car left the roadway.
Witnesses said Moore then overcorrected, which caused her 1997 Ford Mustang to turn sideways and travel left of the center line and into the path of a 1989 Chevy Van driven by Mark A. Reynolds, 45.
Moore’s vehicle was struck by the van, which had been traveling southbound on 63 from Lombardi Drive.
Reynolds, along with a male passenger, had to be extricated from their vehicle.
Moore also had to be extricated. All three were taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital, and Moore later was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis because of the serious nature of her injuries. She was listed in critical condition on Monday afternoon; her condition could not be ascertained late Monday.
A report from by State Police stated that the road was wet at the time of the accident, but did not indicate if road conditions contributed to the crash.
