The Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute plans several events this week in observance of “Correctional Workers’ Week.”
Each year, the president and Congress proclaim one week as “National Correctional Workers’ Week” to recognize the outstanding job those employed in corrections continue to perform.
Correctional officers across the nation, particularly at Terre Haute, provide quality, professional care, custody and control of thousands of inmates. Correctional officers are the unsung heroes of the nation’s law-enforcement community.
To honor all who serve in this capacity, FCC Terre Haute plans a variety of activities for the staff and their families. Highlighting the weeklong activities will be the staff/retirees’ luncheon and memorial service on Thursday.
The memorial service is a time to recognize accomplishments, salute those who risk their lives to protect and serve, and to remember the men and women of law enforcement who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
The week’s events will culminate on Saturday with a staff/family picnic on the grounds of FCC Terre Haute.
