Valley business icon dies

— Longtime Terre Haute businessman Patrick M. O’Leary Sr. has died, it was confirmed late Friday through Donald E. Smith, chairman of the board of First Financial Corp.
O’Leary had suffered a stroke Thursday and died Friday afternoon. He had retired at the end of 1994 after eight years as director for the Alliance for Growth & Progress. He was one of the longest-serving members on the board of directors for First Financial, Smith said.
O’Leary worked in his father’s concrete company as a young man, and owned West Central Indiana Concrete Supply Corp. in the 1970s until 1984.
His job with the former Alliance for Growth & Progress was to bring new business and industry to Terre Haute. The Web site www.forbes.com lists O’Leary’s age as 71.
