Valley business icon dies

Longtime Terre Haute businessman Patrick M. O’Leary Sr. has died, it was confirmed late Friday through Donald E. Smith, chairman of the board of First Financial Corp.
O’Leary had suffered a stroke Thursday and died Friday afternoon. He had retired at the end of 1994 after eight years as director for the Alliance for Growth & Progress. He was one of the longest-serving members on the board of directors for First Financial, Smith said.
O’Leary worked in his father’s concrete company as a young man, and owned West Central Indiana Concrete Supply Corp. in the 1970s until 1984.
His job with the former Alliance for Growth & Progress was to bring new business and industry to Terre Haute. The Web site www.forbes.com lists O’Leary’s age as 71.
