Gas leak forces evacuations south of town

— Between 15 and 20 people were evacuated from the Cobblestone Crossing area south of Terre Haute for about two hours Thursday afternoon because of a gas leak.
Members of the Honey Creek Fire Department were dispatched to the 7000 block of Clubhouse Lane shortly before 2:30 p.m. when a construction crew member struck a gas line with a backhoe, causing the leak, according to a Honey Creek Fire Department news release.
Vectren Gas secured the location, ending the evacuation.
The only damage was to the Vectren line. There were no injuries.
