Gas leak forces evacuations south of town

Sun, May 18 2008

Between 15 and 20 people were evacuated from the Cobblestone Crossing area south of Terre Haute for about two hours Thursday afternoon because of a gas leak.
Members of the Honey Creek Fire Department were dispatched to the 7000 block of Clubhouse Lane shortly before 2:30 p.m. when a construction crew member struck a gas line with a backhoe, causing the leak, according to a Honey Creek Fire Department news release.
Vectren Gas secured the location, ending the evacuation.
The only damage was to the Vectren line. There were no injuries.
