Laura Reed & Deep Pocket live at The Verve
TERRE HAUTE —
Laura Reed & Deep Pocket will appear live downtown at The Verve on June 26.
In the past few months, Reed and band have been added to Pandora Internet Radio (www.pandora.com); their newest single, “Happy,” is featured on the Relix Magazine free sampler for April/May. The band had Motown legend Ike Stubblefield join them for a few shows this May. The band also has an extensive tour planned through the summer including appearances in North Carolina, Virginia and Georgia.
The roots of the band’s sound and message stem from Laura Reed’s diverse experience growing up in South Africa and the American South. Relatively new on the scene, the band switches the music among funk, progressive R&B, and pure soul behind Reed’s stage presence.
Laura states music is the most honest and pure expression in her life, a language that allows her to release “what I could never even admit to myself or say out loud, but can sing.”
