See dinosaurs, Dr. Seuss characters at Children's Museum

TERRE HAUTE — On Sunday, March 9, Terre Haute Children’s Museum guests will be in for a special treat. Prehistoric creatures from Erth’s “Dinosaur Zoo” will be roving the museum, and Dr. Seuss characters will come to life when the Children’s Theatre of Terre Haute presents “Seussical Jr.”

At 12:30 p.m., “Dinosaur Zoo” will visit the museum with some of its prehistoric creatures. From baby dinos to prehistoric insects, a few of Erth’s dinosaurs will wander the museum, allowing guests to get up close and personal with creatures from bygone eras. The roving performance is free with museum admission.

The complete “Dinosaur Zoo” shows will take place later that day, at 3 and 7 p.m., in Hatfield Hall at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (see page 2).

At 2 p.m., the Children’s Theatre will bring to life many favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little child with a big imagination — Jojo. During this mini-performance at the museum, the cast of “Seussical Jr.” will take guests on a magical, musical extravaganza, transporting them from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. The performance is free with museum admission.

The Children’s Theatre will present the full production of “Seussical Jr.” at 7 p.m. on March 21, and 3 p.m. March 22 and 23, at Harmony Hall, 1257 Lafayette Ave. Call 812-236-3193 or email for more information.

The Children’s Museum is at 727 Wabash Ave.. Admission is free for museum members and children under 24 months. Regular admission is $7 for adults and children over 24 months. Call 812 235-5548 for more information.
