Eastern Illinois University’s Tarble Arts Center offers summer children’s classes

CHARLESTON, Ill. — Summer children’s art classes at the Tarble Arts Center, Eastern Illinois University, begin June 10. All courses are open to both Tarble Arts Center members and non-members, with Tarble members receiving a 20 percent discount on course fees.

“Summer Art Investigations I” is a multimedia class for ages 4 to 6 meeting from 3 to 4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, June 10-26. This class introduces the elements of art through lessons exploring a variety of 2-D and 3-D media.

“Summer Art Investigations II” for ages 7 to 9 meets from 3 to 4:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 11-27. Designed for younger elementary students, this class incorporates art history with studio practice in a variety of media. Both classes are taught by Heather Curia Siegel.

“Explorations in Painting” for ages 10 to 14 will introduce older children to painting styles from the Americas, Australia and India. Kit Morice is the instructor for this class.
