Be part of on-the-spot portrait exhibit March 14-16 at Indiana Historical Society

The Indiana Historical Society will offer its guests the opportunity to have their portraits both taken and incorporated into an on-the-spot exhibition with #300in3. The free event will take place March 14 through 16, from noon to 4 p.m. each day.

The Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, home of the IHS, is at 450 W. Ohio St. in downtown Indianapolis.

Photographer Tom Styrkowicz will set up his studio at the History Center with the goal of taking 300 portraits in three days. Guests are invited to come as they are, come with props and ideas — or just come with an open mind, prepared to have fun.

After each portrait is taken, one print is given to the subject (or subjects) to take home, and one will go straight into the exhibit. A digital copy of each portrait will go into the IHS collections. Images will also be loaded onto the IHS Facebook page so subjects can share with their friends.

Free admission on these days includes both #300in3 and the Indiana Experience, which uses interactive and high technology experiences to bring to life the tremendous archival holdings of the IHS in meaningful and enjoyable ways. The Indiana Experience will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 14 and 15 and noon to 5 p.m. on March 16.

IHS’ #300in3 event is presented by Gerald and Dorit Paul. For more information about #300in3, the Indiana Experience, or other IHS programs and events, call 317-232-1882 or visit
