Gallery showcases Terre Haute artist’s work

Gaslight Art Colony in Marshall, Ill., will present the artwork of Terre Haute photographer and sculptor Todd Stokes alongside a concert by the Marshall City Band.

Stokes’ show, “Yardwork,” and the concert will be from 7 to 9 p.m. CDT Friday, July 19.

A reception for the artist will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the gallery at 516 Archer Ave. The show will continue through Aug. 10.

Stokes grew up in the Wabash Valley and graduated from Indiana State University in fine arts. He received his bachelor’s degree with a major emphasis in fine art photography and a minor emphasis in plexiglas sculpture.

For 22 years, Stokes has owned and operated The Golden Frame in Terre Haute.

Stokes is the current president of River City Art Association and a member of Watermark Artist Collective, Arts Illiana and Gaslight Art Colony.

Gaslight is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to broadening appreciation of the arts by providing opportunities that promote awareness, participation and understanding through fine arts exhibitions, classes and workshops.
