Swope presents three new exhibits through March

The Swope Art Museum, at 25 S. Seventh St., will present “First Friday: Readings and Drawings” from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday.

The event will include a raffle drawing, treats and the opening of three exhibitions sponsored by the Alliance of the Swope. “The Inward Eye: Richard Anuzkiewics and William Blake” and “The Story of E and Other Love Letters” run from Friday through March 8 in the Haslem and Hodge galleries.

“From the Swope’s Collection: Selected Art Inspired by Literature” is on view Friday through March 22 in the Education Gallery.

At 7 p.m., Craig McDaniel will read from his book, “Story of E,” based on characters in his paintings exhibited in “The Story of E and Other Love Letters.” Visitors can listen as they enjoy a cocktail from the cash bar.

Raffle tickets can also be purchased for the chance to win handmade items during the alliance’s annual raffle ticket drawing at 8 p.m.

The Swope Art Museum can be reached at 812-238-1676 or www.swope.org. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. The museum is closed Sundays, Mondays and national holidays. Admission is free.
