The Bicentennial Art Center in Paris, Ill., staged an opening reception on July 26 for the annual Midwest Photography Juried Exhibition.
The exhibit contains 59 photographs entered by 22 adult and youth photographers from Illinois and Indiana.
The exhibit was judged by Les Woodrum, photography instructor at Danville Area Community College in Danville, Ill. Woodrum critiqued the exhibit, answered questions and presented the following awards:
First Place: Debbie Goodin, Terre Haute, “Oconaluftee (By the River)”
Second Place: Spencer Young, Clinton, “Chesspiece”
Honorable Mention: Bob Riseling, Effingham, Ill., “Many Hands”; Harry Orr, Salem, Ill., “Mossy Rocks” and “Path to the Valley”; and Todd Stokes, Dennison, Ill., “Locked Away.”
First Place: Charlee Walker, Paris, “Prince”
Second Place: Laci Throneburg, Paris, “The Streets of Brugge”
Honorable Mention: Charlee Walker, “Pursuit.”
The Art Center presented the Paris Bridge Club Choice Award to Sheila K. Ter Meer of Brazil for her photograph titled “Under His Wing.”
The exhibit contains black-and-white and color photographs of people, landscapes, animals, birds and lots of waterfalls. The exhibit is schedule to be on display through Aug. 23.
