March library exhibit inspired by ‘Magnificent Ambersons’

News Release

TERRE HAUTE — Artists from River City Art Association and the Wabash Valley Art Guild in Terre Haute will feature works inspired by the 2014 Wabash Valley Big Read selection, “The Magnificent Ambersons.”

The Vigo County Public Library will host the art exhibit and reception from 6 to 7 p.m. March 7 as part of Downtown Terre Haute’s First Friday initiative.

Today’s artists, trained observers, have created works that tell visual stories of what lies beneath the words of this Pulitzer Prize-winning work, written by Indiana author Booth Tarkington.

Tarkington creates the picture of an aristocratic Midwestern family as it watches its fortune decline during the rise of the automobile revolution.

Refreshments will be provided. The exhibit runs through March 28.

For more information about the exhibition, call the Vigo County Public Library at 812-232-1116.
