Children’s Museum to host Story Time, Family Jammie Nights, New Year’s Noon

TERRE HAUTE — While the kids are out of school and the weather is less than favorable, think about visiting the Terre Haute Children’s Museum.

During the month of December, the museum invites guests to join them for stories about holidays around the world and movies, popcorn and board games.

Story Time is planned for 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. today, Friday and Monday and Dec. 26, 27 and 30. Staff will read stories on the third floor. The event is free with museum admission.

Come dressed in your PJ’s for Family Jammie Nights, scheduled for Friday and Dec. 27, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Staff will provide holiday movies, popcorn and board games these nights, free with museum admission.

Also on the slate is the museum’s New Year’s Noon celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 31. During the event, guests will make and decorate their own New Year’s hats and noisemakers. They will also participate in a countdown to noon and then parade through the museum wearing their newly made crowns and playing their noisemakers. The New Year’s Noon celebration is free with museum admission.

During the week of Jan. 6, the museum will resume its regular hours, which are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The museum is closed on Mondays. Museum admission is free for members of the Terre Haute Children’s Museum and children under 24 months.

Regular admission is $7 for adults and children over 24 months.

The museum is at 727 Wabash Ave. For more information, visit or call 812-235-5548.
