June 13, 2008 06:37 pm

In the early morning of Saturday, June 7, 2008, heavy rains flooded and closed low-lying areas of several Brazil city streets and Clay County roads. Indiana 59 South between Jackson and Short streets also was closed due to flash flood waters. Flash flooding also damaged and closed a section of Interstate 70 in Putnam County. Detours at U.S. 231 and Indiana 46 exits sent heavy traffic through downtown Brazil.
