Giullespie, Finn each pick up pair of wins at Clark County Fair

MARSHALL, ILL. — Ronnie Gillespie and J. D. Finn each drove two winners in harness racing action Saturday evening at the Clark County Fair.

The pair combined for four of the wins on the nine-race card — the only harness racing of the week at the fair.

Gillespie was the top driver on the fair circuit in 2011 while Finn has been a top winner in Illinois racing for some time.

Gillespie was in the bike for 2-year-old filly pacer Fox Valley Corinne, winning for the secnd time in 12 starts.

Gillespie’s other win came with 2-year-old trotter Morgan’s Majestic, winning for the second time in two starts.

Finn’s first win came with 5-year-old trotter Skyline Happy. He is trainer and co-owner of the mare which has won four of six starts this season and has 10 career wins with earnings of more than $39,000.

Finn’s other win came with Psychicfinn, 2-year-old trotter which won for the first time in six starts and came on strong at the finish to edge Mister Photo, driven by Gillespie.

In other races:

n Liberal, a 2-year-old pacer, won for the second time in four starts, trained and driven by Cornelius Cavett.

n Three-year-old pacer Kittitas, co-owned, trained and driven by T Tetrick won for the second time this season and for the 10th time in two years. The gelding was the 2012 champion based on earnings of $22,801.

n BC’s Bad Cat, a 4-year-old pacer trained and driven by Michael Johnson of Martinsville,

won for the fifth time this year and for the 12tim time lifetime with more than $44,000 in winnings. Its time of 2 minutes, 2 hundredths was best of the day on a fas track.

n Douglas Graham is owner, trainer and driver of 3-year-old trotter Powerful Anthony which has won three of its last four starts and has five lifetime wins.

Thoroughbred and running races are on the fair card today. Post time is 2 p.m. CDT, a change from the time listed in the fair book and advertisements.
