METRO ROUNDUP: Rose cross country teams host Gibson Family Invitational

TERRE HAUTE — Rose-Hulman’s men had a solid showing with a ninth-place finish Saturday at the Gibson Family Invitational cross country meet at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course, while the Engineer women placed 10th in a competitive field.

Micah Aldrich of Rose ran the 8,000-meter race in a time of 26:43, which placed him 18th overall in a field of over 200 men. Tyler Kreipke finished with a time of 26:59 which placed him 29th.

Other runners in the team competition for Rose-Hulman included David Caldwell, 27:53, Josh Elkins, 28:31, and Eric Clark, 28:50.

The Engineer women were led by Melissa Rogers, who ran the 6,000-meter race in a time of 23:37 for an 11th-place finish. Creasy Clauser finished 20th overall with a time of 24:04.

Other top runners for Rose-Hulman were Amanda Lundahl, 26:23, Katherine Quigg, 26:37, and Corrie Campbell, 26:43.

The meet was one of the Midwest's largest college meets with 26 institutions and more than 500 runners. Several nationally ranked teams competed in the college men’s division including Heidelberg (No. 28 in Division III) and Manchester (No. 35 in Division III). The field also featured five men's squad that are ranked among the top 10 in their respective NCAA Division III regions.

Nationally ranked women’s teams that competed included Washington University (No. 3 in Division III) and DePauw (No. 22 in Division III). The field also featured five women's squad that are ranked among the top 10 in their respective NCAA Division III regions.

The university division contained regionally ranked NCAA Division II squads in Bellarmine and Northwest Missouri State.
