METRO ROUNDUP: Waltman's funeral Saturday at Indianapolis

TERRE HAUTE — Royce Waltman’s visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke’s Methodist Church at 100 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis.

There will be a celebration of life for the former Indiana State University basketball coach following visitation at 4 p.m. The public is welcome to pay their respects.

Baseball

• Illinois Tech 9, Rose-Hulman 7 — At Rose-Hulman, the host Engineers rallied from a 7-0 deficit to tie the score only to lose in nonconference play Thursday.

The visitors scored four runs in the first and three in the third, but Rose answered with five runs in the bottom of the fourth and two in the fifth. The Scarlet Hawks added single runs in the sixth and seventh.

Hank Akard and Zach Trusk had two hits each for Rose-Hulman, Akard scoring a run and Trusk hitting a double and scoring twice.

Rose-Hulman bashed out five hits in the fourth inning to turn a 7-0 deficit into a 7-5 game.  

Sophomore Josh Koutnik opened the frame with a single and took third on a double by Trusk.  Junior Josh Hoeing added an RBI single, before sophomore Caleb Kissel added another run scoring hit.  Senior Andrew Benitez capped the rally with a two-run single.

Rose-Hulman stands 13-8 on the season, while Illinois Tech has a 9-9 record.  The Engineers host Mount St. Joseph in a three-game series this weekend, starting with a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
