Wabash baseball tops Rose-Hulman

MARSHALL, IND. — Wabash College scored two runs in the third inning and two in the fifth to top Rose-Hulman 4-1 in non-conference baseball Wednesday afternoon.

The Engineers scored its lone run in the second inning, courtesy of singles by freshman Caleb Kissel and junior Michael Bush. Bush led the team’s offensive effort with two hits and one RBI.

Softball

• Indiana State 6, Illinois 5 — At Urbana, Ill., Indiana State’s softball team scored runs in the final four innings and held off a Fighting Illini rally to post a nonconference victory.

Shelby Wilson and Halee Myers both homered for the Sycamores (12-21) to help lead the way. Myers was 2-for-2 with three RBI. Megan Stone was 2-for-2 with a RBI. Halle Humphrey earned her first win of the season and Ashley Dickerson held off Illinois (11-18) in the seventh to earn the save.

• Action Track opener — The Sumar Classic will open the Terre Haute Action Track season on April 28. The USAC Silver Crown race begins a six-race schedule at the Action Track in 2013.
