METRO ROUNDUP: Rose-Hulman to offer video webcasts

TERRE HAUTE — Rose-Hulman has partnered with Stretch Internet to provide free video webcasts for the remainder of its 2012-13 basketball season, beginning with the men’s game against Anderson at 7:30 tonight in Hulbert Arena.

Rose students will serve in all film, production and broadcast roles. Video will be provided free to fans, with the complete game available on-demand just minutes following play through the college’s Game Central Portal. The link to the portal is available at www.rose-hulman.edu/sports.

Live in-game statistics will continue to be offered throughout the transition into video, although radio broadcast coverage for basketball will be dropped as part of this transition. The former radio broadcast team, led by sophomore civil-engineering major Tim Diedriech, will serve as the audio provider during each video webcast.

“Rose-Hulman chose Stretch Internet as our video provider because of their versatility working with mobile applications, experience with college athletic programs and their strong customer service reputation. There may be some bumps in the road early in the process, but we believe this partnership with Stretch Internet will benefit all Rose-Hulman fans for years to come,” said assistant athletic director Kevin Lanke.

The short-term future plan includes video coverage for all home men’s and women’s basketball games, all home football games and weeknight volleyball home matches. Video for additional sports may be added in future years as facility network capability and staffing opportunities are provided.
