PREP ROUNDUP: South dominates Sullivan in tennis

SULLIVAN — Visiting Terre Haute South dominated the No. 1 spots in high school tennis Monday evening as the Braves defeated Sullivan 5-0.

Maddie Kesler won at No. 1 singles without losing a game, and so did the No. 1 doubles team of Miranda Camp and Nicole Howe.

Terre Haute South 5, Sullivan 0

Singles — Maddie Kesler (THS) def. Taylor Shake 6-0, 6-0; Tabitha Fagg (THS) def. Shelby Pierce 6-1, 6-2; Jordan Davis (THS) def. Abigail Hornbeck 6-4, 6-2.

Doubles — Miranda Camp-Nicole Howe (THS) def. Shai Dean-Meredith Secrest 6-0, 6-0; Shivani Purohit-Ali Sacopulos (THS) def. Bridget Bailey-Mikayla Turner 6-1, 6-2.

JV — Terre Haute South 6, Sullivan 0.

Next — South (6-6) plays Thursday at South Vermillion; a match that had been scheduled Wednesday against Crawfordsville has been canceled. Sullivan plays today at Owen Valley.

In other high school tennis:

• Patriots can’t finish — At Terre Haute North, rain halted a match against visiting Bloomington North before it could be completed.

The Patriots will play Wednesday against Jasper at Vincennes University. The remainder of the Bloomington North match will be played next Monday.

• Greencastle 4, West Vigo 1 — At Greencastle, Allyson Walters won at No. 3 singles for the Vikings.

Doubles — Sabrina Arnold-Carlie Harlan (G) def. Mackenzie Collins-Marcela Mota 7-6 (8-6), 7-5; Bailey Bewer-Kayla Chadd (G) def. Sydney Brown-Michaela Rollings 6-4, 6-4.

JV — Greencastle 1, West Vigo 0.

Next — West Vigo (0-12) has a home match Wednesday against Turkey Run.


• Northview 2, Riverton Parke 1 — At Brazil, Kylie McKee hit a two-out double in the bottom of the seventh to drive in the tying run and Madison Nevins followed with an RBI single for the winning tally in the nonconference game.

Taylor Carter had nine strikeouts in a three-hitter for the win, with Sarah Burnham suffering the loss with a seven-hitter for the Panthers.
