Metro roundup: Teams turn out for ISU basketball scramble
Big man on the 1979 national championship team Brad Miley, legendary player and coach Duane Klueh and Indiana State women’s basketball coach Jim Wiedie were among the familiar faces at Idle Creek Golf Course on Friday.
The Indiana State basketball scramble was won by a team of Jim Winning, Don Schroeder, Tom Jones and Maria Dehart with a gross score of 54. The net winners were Scott Teffeteher, John Hunter and James Twitchell with a score of 60.

• Hole-in-one — At Mark’s Par Three, longtime Mark’s golfer Hester Pilcher sunk the ball on her first swing of the day Friday on the 120-yard first hole. Using a driver the ball rolled in on freshly aerated greens.

• Home-Builders Tuesday shootout — At Idle Creek, Richard Booe took top honors in gross and Gary Shipman first place in net on Thursday.

Auto racing
• Sweet wins main — At Pontoon Beach, Ill., Brad Sweet won the 25-lap feature Thursday in the first night of the U.S. Auto Club Gold Crown Midget Nationals at Tri-City Speedway.
Sweet won his heat and led the final 19 laps to win the main event. Tracy Hines was second in the non-points action.
