Electric co-op director earns National Rural Electric Cooperative’s credential certification
Tom DeWitt of Brocton, Ill., a director for EnerStar Power in Paris, Ill., recently received a credentialed cooperative director certificate from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.
DeWitt was recognized Sept. 13 at the association’s Region V meeting in Springfield, Ill., for his commitment to education and attainment of the certificate. The meeting was attended by more than 1,000 electric cooperative officials from Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois.
The association’s credentialed director program requires attendance in five courses and basic competencies related to director’s duties, liabilities, board roles and relationships, strategic planning and financial decision making.
The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association represents the nation’s more than 900 private, consumer-owned electric cooperatives, which provide electric service to nearly 40 million people in 47 states.
EnerStar Power Corp. is a member of Touchstone Energy – an alliance of more than 625 local, consumer-owned electric utilities around the country. The co-op serves more than 5,290 members over 1,520 miles of line in parts of Clark, Coles, Douglas, Edgar and Vermilion counties. For more information, visit www.enerstar.com.
