Two people are confirmed dead this afternoon in an accident that occurred on westbound Interstate 70 in Illinois, five miles west of Marshall.
The accident involved a passenger vehicle and a semitrailer, according to Marla Tolliver, a trooper with the Illinois State Police. “The interstate will be closed a few hours” in the westbound lanes, she said.
Westbound traffic is being re-routed off I-70 at exit 147, the Marshall exit, she said.
She had no further details.
Robert Farley, a semi driver who drove past the accident scene headed east, said it appeared traffic was backed up for about a mile.
