The Tribune-Star

TERRE HAUTE — One person was injured Monday evening when a car and moped collided near the Illinois state line in western Vigo County.

The Sugar Creek Fire Department provided medical attention to the moped driver, who was thrown from his vehicle, at the scene of the accident until Trans-Care Ambulance arrived and took him to a local hospital. A helicopter ambulance also responded but was not used at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

An official with the Sugar Creek Fire Department said darkness may have contributed to the incident, which took place at the intersection of Robinson Place and Illiana Drive near U.S. 40.

There was no immediate word as to the identity of the drivers of the moped or of the car.

The incident, which happened about 6:30 p.m., is being investigated by the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department.
