TERRE HAUTE — A Shelburn woman faces possible criminal charges after a Monday morning crash on Oregon Church Road near Hutchinson Street.

At 9:20 a.m., Vigo County Sheriff’s deputies Tom Ewing and Bob Barlett responded to a single vehicle crash with an injured driver.

Officers found that Elicia Crossno said she was driving east when she tried to answer her cell phone and her vehicle veered to the left off the northside of the road, striking several small trees. The accident report showed that seat belts were not in use at the time of the crash.

Crossno reportedly sustained facial cuts and was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital, then transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

While at the scene, police said they detected an odor of alcohol coming from Crossno. At the hospital, a blood-alcohol test showed her alcohol level at 0.31 percent.

Police report that Crossno will receive a summons to court on an alcohol-related charge.
