Holidays, winter weather alter city trash collection

TERRE HAUTE — Republic Services of Western Indiana has had to make changes to its Vigo County trash collection schedule due to holidays and the recent winter weather. Residents scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 1, pickup this week will have their trash collected Wednesday, Jan. 2, due to the New Year’s holiday. This will push collection for the remainder of the week back one day as well, weather permitting. Residents with a normal Friday pickup will have their trash picked up Saturday. Because of recent snows, no pickup was made on Dec. 26 or 29. Republic Services says, that because of previous disruptions to the schedule, this week will be a ‘double pickup,’ with all trash set out being collected. Trash will be collected as normal on Monday, Dec. 31.
