Police investigating death of 65-year-old woman

TERRE HAUTE — The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a death that was reported Sunday at Gaslight Place south of Terre Haute.

Vigo County Coroner Dr. Susan Amos stated that the death is a probable homicide, however, an autopsy to confirm the cause and manner of death will not be conducted until later this week when a forensic pathologist is available to conduct the autopsy.

Vigo County dispatch records show that the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene of the mobile home community at 3:17 p.m. Sunday with officers remaining at the scene until 2:57 a.m. today.

Chief Deputy Clark Cottom confirmed this morning that a death investigation is ongoing, but said that no other information would be released.

A news release this afternoon states that the name of the 65-year-old woman is not being released, and investigators believe there is no threat to public safety.

Dispatch records also show that Honey Creek firefighters and Transcare ambulance responded to the scene to transport another individual to the hospital for a drug overdose.
