Bikes for Tykes needs donation

TERRE HAUTE — The Exchange Club of Terre Haute’s 16th annual Bikes for Tykes fundraiser needs donations to assist in providing bikes and helmets to Wabash Valley children.

About $9,500 has been generously donated by Wabash Valley residents, organizations and companies toward the revised goal of 300 bikes or $19,500. But, money is still needed to help make these children’s Christmas brighter. The cost of a bike and helmet is $65.

Donations can be made at any First Financial Bank through Dec. 13. Donations may also be sent directly to the Exchange Club. Contributions need to be payable to the Exchange Club of Terre Haute and mailed to P.O. Box 10113, Terre Haute, IN  47801. For more information, call 812-239-0126.

The National Exchange Club is a service organization with 700 clubs and more than 21,000 members throughout the United States and Puerto Rico that celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2011. The club was founded in Detroit by business leaders who wanted to “exchange” ideas on making their community better. Its core values – Family, Community and Country – are held by each Exchange member with pride and commitment. For more than 100 years, Exchange Club volunteer efforts have supported the needs of the country and of local communities, making it the country’s oldest American service organization operating exclusively in this country.
