Two Terre Haute men were arrested late Monday after a hit-and-run accident on U.S. 40 at Baker Street in Seelyville.
At 8:55 p.m. Monday, Indiana State Police troopers Mike Finney and David Petrowski were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash in which a driver of one vehicle ran from the scene.
Police report that a car driven by Bradley Hogue, 44, was southbound on Baker Street when it reportedly ran a stop sign and collided with a westbound vehicle driven by Shawn Lucas, 46, of Brazil.
The troopers began a neighborhood check of the area, with Hogue being identified as the driver. At about 10:30 p.m., troopers canvassing the neighborhood saw a red car quickly leaving the area. Finney and Petrowski stopped the vehicle in a nearby mobile home park and identified the driver as Chad Miller, 32, and the front seat passenger as Hogue.
Miller was found to not have a valid driver’s license and was in possession of a suspected narcotic prescription pill, police said.
Hogue was arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
Miller was arrested on suspicion of being a habitual traffic violator and possession of a controlled substance.
They were transported to the Vigo County Jail.
Police also report that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, and chemical tests are pending.
