ATV accidents send two to hospitals

15-year-old girl airlifted to Indianapolis hospital

TERRE HAUTE — Two unrelated ATV accidents Wednesday in different parts of Vigo County sent two people to the hospital.

According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, a 15-year-old female was airlifted to Methodist Hospital with head injuries after the family ATV she was riding along South Trueblood Place in southern Vigo County rolled over and ejected her into the yard. The ATV came to rest upside down next to the injured teen.

Vigo County Chief Deputy Clark Cottom said the teen was not wearing a helmet.

Police was dispatched at approximately 5:53 p.m. to the 10200 Block of South Trueblood Place in southern Vigo County.

Earlier that day, around 3 p.m., media reports indicated that one person was sent to the hospital with unknown injuries after an ATV accident near 14th Street and Wabash Avenue in Terre Haute. Authorities said the incident involved an ATV that ran into the back of a semi, the report stated.
